Don’t know what to get that outdoorsy person on your list? Or are you looking for yourself? 😉 I’ve compiled a list of my favorite outdoor products. I have linked each company’s website so you can browse their actual website, I have also provided a link to my Amazon list called “Outdoorsy Gift Guide.”

1. SUBSCRIPTIONS & LICENSES

Hunting & Fishing Licenses

Did you know that you can purchase a hunting or fishing license for someone else as a gift? You can do this online or in-person. Each state has different pricing, types of licenses, and websites. A simple Google search of “purchase _______ state hunting/fishing license” should direct you to the appropriate site.

Parks Passes

The National Park Service has an annual pass but so do State Parks that require an entrance fee. Look into an annual pass for that person on your list that frequents National or State Parks. Not every state requires an entrance fee to use their parks, but you can view the ones that do here. Then, go to that state’s park system’s website to purchase passes.

Handy Apps

There are many apps on the market for the outdoor person that have subscription-based features, charged on an annual basis.

My Picks:

  • AllTrails – a massive database of hiking, biking, walking routes
  • Gaia – excellent for backcountry expeditions
  • Strava – best for tracking and sharing
  • Cairn – best for safety tracking
  • HuntStand – best for hunting

2. DARN TOUGH SOCKS

I swear by these socks. Over the years I have phased out my old socks and replaced them with Darn Tough socks. I wear them for everything – hiking, biking, work, running, skiing, lounging around at my house. They are padded, comfortable, and durable. They even have a lifetime guarantee – meaning if they tear or aren’t comfortable, the company will replace them. You can get them online or in store through multiple retailers.

3. WOOL BLANKET

I love a good wool blanket. They great for camping, evenings at your backyard firepit, to keep in our car, or just lounging on the couch. What I love about wool blankets is that they’re non-flammable, durable, lightweight, moisture wicking, odor resistant, and easy to care for.

My picks:

4. TRAVEL PAINT SET

My pick:

5. MICROSPIKES

These are a lifesaver on snow and ice. I wear them on every winter hike I do, and I wear them at work (I’m a Park Ranger). I have seen HUNDREDS of people struggle and even fall on trails because they are not prepared for the snow and ice. Don’t risk an injury when you can buy these.

My pick:

6. SIT PAD

Need to change a baby, take a break, or kneel? A sit pad is perfect.

Insulating, packs down small, easy to carry.

My pick:

7. STASHER BAGS

These bags are so diverse in their use – freezing, microwave, wet or dry foods. They can be used for food, toiletries, to pack out trash. They come in a variety of colors and sizes.

8. WATERPROOF WRITING

Waterproof, sweatproof, weatherproof. But my favorite thing about Rite in the Rain is their HUGE selection. They have everything from printer paper to calendars to notebooks. AND they have their own pens. They have every size of notebook and line style (graph, journal, dots, etc) you could ever want.

My Pick:

9. NAVIGATION & SOS

In the age of cell phones, sometimes people forget that there isn’t cell services everywhere you go. Having options to navigate and in an emergency situation can save a life. My only drawback to this product is that it requires a subscription.

My picks:

10. ELECTRONICS CHARGING

Charging electronics is something most people view as “essential” in the outdoors.

My Picks:

11. FIELD GUIDES

There is a field guide for nearly everything – birds, stars, rocks, survival, etc. You can find something to match ANYBODY on your list – I promise. There are guides specific to the part of the state someone lives in, you just have to do a simply Google search.

If you need help with finding a guide for a specific topic, just ask me!

Here are some of my favorites:

12. MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

My picks:

  • Animosa’s Go With the Flow kit – odor-containing, eco-friendly disposal system for storing used period products. It also has a large pocket for your fresh period supplies, and it comes with sustainably-sourced, pH-balanced personal wipes.
  • Saalt Period Underwear – not treated with PFAS

13. MULTITOOL
